Titan Poker First Timer Wins iPOPS #3
The Dutch player who won the iPOPS #3 event at Titan Poker certainly chose an appropriate nickname for himself. Shortly after registering for a new player account at Titan Poker, “ipopyouup” signed up to play a satellite awarding seats to the iPOPS #3 $150,000 GP event last February 2. Having failed to win a token from the satellite, he bought in directly to the big tournament. Eight hours after the iPOPS #3 began, “ipopyouup” emerged as the overall winner, bringing home the first prize of $25,890.
The iPOPS #3 $150,000 GP tournament, a $50 + $5 turbo event with re-buys and an add-on, attracted a starting field of 979 players. It was the third event on the iPOPS schedule, with the next tournament being a $500+$30 high roller freezeout with a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool scheduled for February 4.
When final table action began, “ipopyouup” was the chipleader, with a small advantage over “Ntoulis”. The latter was able take the lead for awhile, but the end game was dominated by “ipopyouup”. He busted “G3TP4wn3dz” in 4th place as his pocket sevens were better than A Q that didn't pair up. “ipopyouup” had the vast majority of chips when he knocked out “Ntoulis” in 3rd place, a pair of tens again beating an A Q combination that didn't turn into anything.
With an overwhelming chip lead, it came as a bit of a surprise that it took “ipopyouup” 51 hands to eliminate “tomukas666″, his final opponent. But finally, “ipopyouup” went all-in with A 7 hearts, and “tomukas666″ went in with his remaining chips holding K J hearts. A seven appeared on the river and “ipopyouup” won the tournament. For his second place finish, “tomukas666″ received $18,750.
Dutch player “ipopyouup” certainly made an impressive showing on his first day at Titan Poker. He has one iPOPS title under his belt, and there are two more tournaments left in the series.
