Shakeup in Online Traffic Rankings Continues
Since Black Friday, and the subsequent demise and rebirth of Full Tilt Poker, outside of the #1 spot (held firmly by PokerStars) the online poker traffic ranking have been anything but a model of consistency. This past month the rankings underwent one of their most tumultuous months yet as bwin and Party Poker finished their merger which saw the site briefly challenge Full Tilt Poker for the #2 spot, as well as even more tumult in the US market as The Merge Gaming Network underwent a mini-Exodus.
It seems as if things haven't quite settled down in Early January either, as the US market continues to see poker sites and networks flip-flop in the rankings. Revolution Gaming is still holding on to the #1 spot for US-facing poker sites, but the Lock Poker led network is now getting a serious push from, of all sites, Bodog. Bodog's rise is stunning; considering the company has pulled out of a number of US states, and basically halted all marketing in the US (Bodog's US-facing poker site is known as Bovada).
Revolution and Bodog are now virtually neck-and-neck in terms of pokerscout's 7-day rolling average (although it should be pointed out that Bodog has been very critical of the numbers listed by pokerscout in the past, especially after the site switched to Anonymous tables) with the Merge Gaming Network, the Winning Poker Network, and the Chico Poker network rounding out the Top 5 in the US market.
Merge has dropped from a contender for the #1 spot all the way down to having roughly 60% of the traffic that the Revolution Network has. The key blow to Merge was the loss of Black Chip Poker to the Winning Poker Network in February, which came just months after the network was torn in half when Lock Poker left the network, in the process purchasing the Cake Poker Network and rebranding it as Revolution Gaming.
Here is a look at the Top 10 poker rooms/networks according to pokerscout:
