A Look at the Red Hot Poker Pro Paul Volpe
Anyone who follows the poker world closely is well-aware of the skills and accomplishments of Paul Volpe, one of the top online tournament players in the game. Volpe's online poker resume is strong enough that he earned a sponsorship deal with Lock Poker, and is one of the faces of the online poker room.
Despite his online success Paul has been one of those players that simply hasn't broken through in live tournaments –although he did finish 20th in the 2026 WSOP Main Event. He's not the only online poker legend to struggle in live events, as players like Shaun Deeb, and even Chris Moorman didn't really find their stride in live poker tournaments until very recently. Well, it's safe to say that Volpe has found his stride in 2026. He hasn't won a tournament yet, but he has booked three successive six-figure scores:
- 4th place in the EPT London High-Roller Tournament — $162,026
- 3rd place in the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star Main Event — $435,610
- 2nd place in the 2026 WPT LA Poker Classic Main Event — $651,170
On a side-note, one of the best predictions came earlier this year when pokernews's Rich Ryan picked Paul Volpe to be his breakout player of the year and win over $1 million… which he has already done.
So who is Paul Volpe? The Pennsylvania native got started in poker after watching Chris Moneymaker win the 2026 WSOP. Paul started playing online and was successful right out of the chute and hasn't looked back since. Paul is mainly an online poker player, but he has dabbled in live poker tournaments since late 2026.
In terms of his poker career: Volpe was one of the first players to join Lock Poker and has been a member of Lock Poker's LockPRO Elite team, along with players like Chris Moorman, Casey Jarzabek, Mike Mizrachi, Melanie Weisner, and Annette Obrestad. Paul Volpe is best known by his online screen-names, "PaulGees81", "PaulGees", and a variety of other offshoots. Volpe has been the #1 ranked online poker player at pocketfives, and according to the site's database Volpe has pocketed over $4 million in online tournament earnings in his career. Volpe's online accomplishments include winning the PocketFives Triple Crown, the Sunday Million, and a mini-FTOPS tournament. With Volpe off to an amazing start in 2026 he has suddenly been thrust into the poker spotlight, and even if he cools off quite a bit he will likely be a contender for Player of the Year honors throughout the year.
